Angela Adkisson
Singer
Despise not small beginnings… Hailing from a rural town called Denmark, Tennessee, Angela Adkisson has traveled the world sharing her gift of song. With her father being a pastor, Angela literally grew up in the church along with her four brothers and two sisters. What the congregation lacked in size, it more than made up for it in spirit. Sunday after Sunday, Angela was asked to sing, and sing she did. From her first solo at the age of 5, everyone knew that she was destined for a life filled with music.
Twenty-five years after her first performance, Angela Adkisson is still singing. With a foundation of good old, gut-wrenching gospel music, Angela was introduced to her only taste of formal vocal training in high school under the tutelage of Mrs. Jean Hammons, now affectionately known as “Mama Jean”. After graduating from South Side High School in Jackson, Tennessee, Angela received another year of training at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. But her gospel roots were always held close to her heart.
Angela sang in choirs behind many gospel artists, including Pastor Shirley Ceasar, Rance Allen, Timothy Wright, The Mississippi Mass Choir, The Clark Sisters, and many more. In 2001, Angela was invited to travel to Japan by a company that was in search of a gospel singer. It proved to be a lucrative acquisition for both parties involved. After nearly 6 years of traveling throughout Japan, performing at sold out concerts, Angela returned home to Tennessee where she was introduced to the King Beez. Since 2007, Angela Adkisson has shared her love of music in the Memphis area. What will the future hold for this talented lady? Only time will tell. One thing is for certain-you won’t be disappointed.
